In June 2012, El Paso City Council voted to build a baseball stadium on the site of City Hall and Insights for a professional AAA baseball team. Thus, as of Feb. 14, 2013 (Insights 33rd anniversary), our lease was terminated and we had to vacate the building.
However, through a Memorandum of Understanding with the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD), we found a temporary storage location and possibly a new home for Insights at an abandoned building called Alamo Elementary School. The Board of Insights and EPISD are currently negotiating the terms under which Insights would re-open at Alamo School in the historic Segundo Barrio, south of downtown El Paso. Segundo Barrio was one of the first immigrant establishments in El Paso, Texas and contains historic buildings tied to the Mexican Revolution.
We are also re-establishing our strong partnerships, and plan to re-open in 6-9 months. Stay tuned these next coming months, as we will publically announce our new plans!
